MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT

This statement is made on behalf of the board of Goodness & Mercy Healthcare and published in response to section 54 (1) part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 which requires commercial organisations to be transparent about their efforts to identify and prevent slavery and human trafficking in their business and supply chain.

Due Diligence Process

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, our business undertakes due diligence process in both its recruitment process and dealing with suppliers.

Recruitment Process:

Goodness and Mercy Healthcare largely utilises the skills and experience of qualified Carers and Nurses employed directly by the organisation. Our people policies ensure fair and equal treatment of all our employees. We have a comprehensive recruitment and selection process which ensures that opportunities within the business are duly advertised on job boards and prospective employees undergo pre-employment and immigration checks. All staff responsible for recruitment and selection are duly trained to execute their role within legislation underpinning employment in the UK.

Managing Supply Chains:

We ensure that we work with suppliers who treat their obligations towards modern slavery with the same importance that we do.

Risk Assessment and Management:

We have in place systems to:

  • Identify and assess potential risk areas in our business and supply chains

  • Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains.

  • Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains.

  • Protect whistle blowers.

Key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of steps being taken:

No reports have been received from employees, the public, or law enforcement agencies to indicate that modern slavery practices have been identified.

Training on modern slavery and human trafficking:

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, this policy forms part of the induction process for all individuals who work for us. Regular training will be provided on the policy and the risk our businesses face from modern slavery in our supply chains as is deemed necessary. Our employees are encouraged to identify and report any potential breaches of our anti-slavery policy and we have in place protection for whistle blowers.
